Easy Reading

I'm noticing that my wife gets a lot more traffic to her blog. I'm not surprised. She's a really inspiring person. She's also funny, and she's got a great perspective about mothering and life in general. She's smart, and she's also a really great writer. And she's a good critic when she needs to be. She told me that my blog isn't "easy reading". That's not to say she doesn't appreciate what I have to say, but I can see her point. Long posts can be intimidating. It's nice to have something short to read and comment about every now and then. So I'm going to keep it brief and spare you my grief (and disapointment) over the announcement today that Romney is "suspending" his campaign. I wasn't surprised. The writting was on the wall after Super Tuesday and after John McCain and Mike Huckabee (I'm being polite by not calling them names) teamed up on Mitt. He's still great, and who knows, maybe this is just the beginning...

Hi. I popped in from LDS & Mormon Blogs, in my Google Reader.

You had more to say about Mitt than I did. I'm just truly sad.

I won't call names here, either.. following in your fine example.

Maybe I can move to Egypt now.

Sara gets more traffic than all of us...but that is ok...keep blogging. I should comment more. I read ALL your blogs, i need to remark more. I will be better

ps...I am so sad I have no words. I could not be more dissappointed in the ignorance of AMERICA. How easily they fall for scandals. I blame it on reality tv. Everyone thinks life is a game of alliances. That is not real. This actually affects you. I should not start. I am just so sad.

ok, so I am sorry i am trafficking the comments so much...i just write, then find out i have more to write. Sara is right though. Long posts for me ARE instimidating--i don't feel like i have much to say if it has all already been said...you know what i mean?

I say be true to yourself, Spence! I like your long blogs. You can't always count your traffic by comments. People are just lurkers by nature sometimes. Have you gotten a sitemeter account? They keep track of all your visitors, and you can get more of a picture of who's visiting your blog. You can also join the LDS Webring that's on my site. I get visitors from there every once in a while.

Spencey,
I hope I made it clear that not "easy reading" was a compliment. How sad would it be if I said "your posts are so light and frivolous". Your posts really make me contemplate and wonder. Often I am not sure what to say because I am just lost in thought and feel like I would just be commenting to comment. I love the things you come up with and how passionate you get about it. I just love you...what more can I say. I love how you feel things and express them. You pay attention to details and analyze. YOU are too nice to me with your complimets. I'd write posts on my blog even if you were the only one who came to it (although I's be a little sad that the Grandma's didn't because if you can't get your mom to be interested in your life, who can you get). Keep a postin!

Just FYI, I think your most current post has 3times the ammount of comments than mine- so there! But who's counting. If we only wrote for the comments we'd probably change the way we write. Let's never do that. LOVE yOU!

I read all your posts, too, Spencer. I just don't necessarily comment on each one because of similar reasons to JamieCook and Sara:

* You've already said it all.

and/or

* I don't want to comment just for the sake of commenting.

Keep up the posts! You and your wife BOTH are amazing writers.

Hi Spence, I LOVE the thoughtful insight you share in your posts. Write for yourself, and for a way for your children to get to know you when they are older. If other people find you and comment because you have touched them that's just an added bonus, but not the reason you write.

Nice site, Clean Cut. I like the Riverwalk shot behind the family photo.
